“Based on my book, Your Fertility Program, these holistic Programs are for men and women interested in maximizing their fertility. My patients range from couples looking to achieve their optimum health before pregnancy, to those working with documented impediments to conception as: thyroid disorders, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure (POF), irregular menstruation, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), recurrent miscarriages, suboptimal semen analysis and immunologic infertility. I look forward to working with you.” –Dr. Maureen Rozenn
An ancient Daoist perspective holds that the secret to enhancing fertility is the same as engendering your own health and vitality. By living a healthier life, you slow the aging process and/or improve your potential to bring another life into this world. Become as healthy and strong as possible, then use that energy to enrich your own life and/or have a child. What many people don’t realize is that the state of their health before pregnancy can have a lasting impact on the vitality of their child, not to mention the quality of care they are able to provide the child directly after its birth. Parents need A LOT of energy to care for an infant. Too often we focus on the short-term goal of attaining pregnancy, but a healthy baby is the long-term goal.
During the first appointment, in addition to taking your medical history and reviewing any prior laboratory reports and herbal, nutraceutical or pharmacological substances you are currently taking, Dr. Rozenn also conducts a physical examination consisting of tongue, pulse and abdominal diagnosis. Only after all of these steps are taken will she perform an acupuncture treatment. The acupuncture point prescription is unique to each patient and is determined by the individual’s Oriental medical diagnosis. For example, ten women with the Western label of endometriosis might each receive a different Oriental medical diagnosis and thus be prescribed different herbal medicinals, acupuncture points, dietary suggestions and nutraceuticals.
Research on OM Fertility Treatment
Given Oriental medicine’s long history of treating gynecological problems and infertility, it is not surprising that one of the most popular areas of international acupuncture research today is the field of fertility enhancement. Studies done in China, Germany, Italy, the United States and Sweden have demonstrated that acupuncture and herbal formulas can:
- Regulate the menstrual cycle
- Promote egg development and induce ovulation
- Enhance uterine lining quality and thickness by increasing uterine circulation
- Augment IVF and other Assisted Reproductive Technologies
- Balance fertility hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels
- Increase live-birth rates and reduce birth complications
- Regulate the neuro-endocrine system and promote endorphins
Treatment for men centers on improved circulation to the reproductive organs to enhance sexual vitality and semen quality. Semen parameters, such as sperm motility, morphology and quality can all be improved with Oriental medicine. Dr. Rozenn commonly treats ED and helps men improve their semen analysis and DNA fragmentation results.

“I am research scientist, and I have always been a little skeptical about acupuncture and other non-western medical practices. After my experience with Dr. Rozenn, however, I enthusiastically recommend her for the treatment of fertility issues. My husband and I were trying to conceive for the second time and after a year, we saw an M.D. specialist in infertility. He explained that Western medicine had no easy answer for my particular issue (my cycles were short and he suspected I was ovulating before my eggs were mature), and recommended that I try meditation or yoga as a first strategy. He also mentioned that there was a program available that combined standard infertility treatment with acupuncture. After talking to a friend of mine (who recommended Dr. Rozenn), I decided to try acupuncture alone for three months and then reassess my options. Dr. Rozenn was willing to work with me either with or without parallel treatment from my M.D. and was positive but realistic about my chances of conceiving. I appreciated that she did not discount the role of Western medicine in infertility treatment, but I opted for a non-parallel approach. I decided to follow all of her recommendations to the letter so that I would have no doubts at the end of three months that I had given the process my all. I changed my diet, took herbal and other supplements, saw Dr. Rozenn on a weekly basis and opted for abdominal massages from Brianna Brownfield (Dr. Rozenn’s assistant, whom I also enthusiastically recommend). I noticed changes in my cycle within one month of starting my treatments, and within two cycles my standard headache (a hallmark for 12 years), did not accompany my period. During my third cycle since start of treatment, I ovulated on day 14 for the first time in 7 years, and I am now thrilled to say that I am 11 weeks pregnant. I am entirely convinced that it was the treatment program that I pursued with Dr. Rozenn that enabled my husband and I to conceive this baby. If you are in a similar situation, I encourage you to consider Dr. Rozenn and acupuncture as a treatment option. I am so grateful that I was able to conceive without risking multiple births or spending enormous sums on IVF. This experience has convinced me to consider acupuncture among the practices I typically pursue to maintain my general health. Thank you, Dr. Rozenn and Brianna!” Rachel S.-Mountain View
“I find working with fertility enhancement to be so rewarding. Patients learn about their bodies and how they can directly impact their fertility potential with everyday diet and lifestyle choices. I feel strongly about patient empowerment; it is key to their success”. Therefore, I spend a lot of time helping patients understand and interpret their body’s fertility signals. This gives them some control over a process that can feel overwhelming.”-–Dr. Maureen Rozenn
